The Rabbinic Cabinet of JFNA 2014 Mission to Tbilisi & Israel The focus of the 2014 mission to Tbilisi and Israel will be to learn how the Georgian Jewish community survived the difficult years under Communism and to see how we, in the North American Jewish community, made it possible for their community to chart a new course of life in the United States, the FSU and in Israel.
Our mission is limited to just 30 rabbis and the 30 slots on this mission will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Therefore, we urge you to act now as we know that the places on this mission will be filled quickly. (The past two year’s missions had a waiting list.) This mission is going to be a unique opportunity in that selected rabbis from across the country, and from all denominations, are being invited to join in an experience that will enhance their rabbinate for years to come. The impact of your participation in an overseas mission with the Rabbinic Cabinet of JFNA cannot be overstated. It is a powerful experience as evidenced in the following statement from a rabbi in New Jersey: "my early rabbinic years were deeply transformed on a myriad of levels by the sites and communities visited on these Rabbinic Cabinet missions, and the hevre with which we traveled energized my mission as a rabbi and communal leader" (Howard Buechler).
This mission is by personal invitation ONLY. You have been recommended by the Executive Committee of the Rabbinic Cabinet of JFNA. This mission is not being advertised in the general rabbinate as we feel this is truly something very special. Only 30 rabbis can come on this mission as that is the absolute maximum that can be accommodated. The participants will be chosen on a first come, first served basis in reserving a spot on this mission.
