Michelle Gilboe is an experienced trial attorney with a national practice focused on defending sports and fitness companies, medical device, pharmaceutical and consumer products manufacturers. She has significant experience in complex class action, toxic tort and MDL litigation. For more than 20 years, Michelle has defended key players in the health and wellness industry in product liability, class actions and commercial claims. Michelle has served as both national and regional counsel, and has vast experience defending complex medical and scientific matters in both state and federal courts. Michelle regularly advises her clients on regulatory compliance and recalls.  The combination of her experience and her acute understanding of the design, manufacture and science of the products she is defending allows Michelle to efficiently master the legal complexities of each case.

Dr. McLean is a Senior Manager at Exponent within the Biomechanics Practice, heading a new sports technology initiative out of the company’s Detroit office. He has over 20 years of experience in the areas of injury and orthopaedic biomechanics, gait and locomotion and human performance optimization and modification, publishing extensively in each of these fields and being highly successful in the academic, startup and broader industry sectors. In parallel, has developed and demonstrated considerable expertise in human experimentation, cadaveric and computational modeling, and wearable sensor technology methods. His related research foci include sports-specific injury mechanisms and prevention, high-impact soft tissue mechanical analyses, anatomical and neuromechanical adaptations to loads across the lifespan. Dr. McLean also has substantial expertise in applying state-of-the-art wearable technologies to the quantification and subsequent optimization of human movement in the wild. Using this innovative approach, he has worked successfully with a number of start-up and high-profile sports, clinical and military partners, developing and implementing novel technology and data solutions for the provision of high-quality performance outcomes.

Prior to joining Exponent, Dr. McLean was the Director of Human Innovation Research at Fitbit, where he derived and lead a number of key research initiatives focusing on characterizing and optimizing wearable technology accuracy and quality on a global scale. He was also a Professor at the University of Michigan, where he oversaw a number of high-profile research studies targeting human performance optimization and injury assessment within naturalistic military and sporting environments. He was originally a Project Staff Scientist and the Director of Sports Health and Orthopedic Rehabilitation at the Cleveland Clinic, where he was the team biomechanical consultant for Cleveland’s professional sporting teams. He is a past President of the American College of Sports Medicine Biomechanics Group and served on the International Society of Biomechanics Executive Council.
