Summary

Child abuse medical evaluations are an important part of a comprehensive multidisciplinary team (MDT) response when investigating allegations of child sexual abuse. Children’s Advocacy Centers of Texas (CACTX) is working with the 70 CACs across the state to strengthen their medical components so that more child victims will be referred and have access to qualified medical professionals who can provide needed evaluations. 

This training session will address the following: 

• How medical evaluations are conducted in cases of child sexual abuse. 

• How the child and the case benefit from sexual abuse medical evaluations. 

• Best practices for when to refer children for sexual abuse medical evaluations. 

• Common myths and facts about child sexual abuse medical evaluations. 

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

All MDT members, including law enforcement, prosecution, CPS, medical partners, mental health providers and CAC Staff.
