EPRI’s International Low-Level Waste (LLW) Conference is specifically aimed at meeting the needs of nuclear utility professionals. The 26th annual conference will focus on all aspects of nuclear plant low and intermediate level liquid and solid radwaste operations, radwaste shipping and disposal, all contributing to improved management, safety, cost reduction and waste minimization. The conference format is intended to present the latest technical developments applicable to attendees’ plant radwaste operation. In addition, it provides a forum for information exchange between vendors and other members of the industry. The 2017 conference will be held at the EPRI facilities in Charlotte, North Carolina. Utility radwaste representatives, vendor/consultant colleagues, colleague organizations (e.g. INPO, NEI, ANI, etc.), and regulatory colleagues are invited and encouraged to participate. The 2017 event will also offer opportunities for vendor/consultant colleagues to showcase their products and services through a vendor exhibit. More information will be provided at a later date. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)/EPRI Radwaste Workshop will precede the LLW Conference for utility members only. The ASME/EPRI Workshop focuses on functional aspects of low-level radioactive waste management at nuclear power plants. Presentations will be made by utility radwaste personnel, followed by small interactive discussion groups to promote information exchange and review lessons learned. The EPRI 2017 Decommissioning Workshop will specifically focus on decommissioning planning, use and development of technologies and associated waste issues. The objective is to draw from and share experiences and lessonslearned, gather information on the implementation of innovative technologies, and insights gained in the conduct of nuclear power plant decommissioning projects. Presentations will address strategic issues such as planning and regulatory, and key aspects of relevant technologies, allowing an assessment to be made of their applicability to the global nuclear community. Presentations will be made by regulators, utilities, service providers and research groups on projects and studies being performed.
