Engage in collaborative teaching and learning scholarship opportunities by joining MacEwan’s Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) program. Building on the initiative we started in Fall 2015, this research program is designed to encourage and support faculty committed to systematic scholarly inquiry into student learning. The interdisciplinary faculty reading and project development group meets three times* over the term (see dates and times listed) to discuss issues and challenges in teaching and learning in higher education and explore how to develop course-based inquiry projects. Each session is led by a MacEwan faculty member with expertise in SoTL.
After participation in the reading group, faculty members are welcome to apply for a MacEwan SoTL Fellowship, which is an 18-month award program that begins on May 1, 2017 and includes a residency during the fall break in November, monthly collaborative activities with the cohort of 2017 scholars (and some with the 2016 SoTL Fellows), and support for conducting research projects that shed new light on a significant aspect of student learning and for publicly disseminating these findings in an effort to influence practice in the field. The deadline for fellowship applications is April 1, 2017.
*To be eligible to apply for SoTL project fellowships for 2017-18, participants must attend all three sessions of the reading group.
