Solar as a Public Welfare Investment
All national banks are regulated by the U.S. Treasury’s Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and permitted to make certain investments in community and economic development projects designed primarily to promote the public welfare. In many cases, a solar energy project may be eligible as a qualified investment, which, in turn, could lower the cost of capital for a developer.
