Dr. Stuart Shanker and TMC's Learn Self-Reg Institutes in partnership with Central Alberta Regional Consortium (@carcpd) bring Self-Reg learning to communities through one-day events that combine morning keynotes with afternoon workshops in which participants dialogue and dig deeper to explore and plan strategies for applying Self-Reg in their workplaces and professional practices.
Children in the early years are suddenly confronted with a sharp increase in stresses across all five domains of the Self-Reg model (biological, emotion, cognitive, social and prosocial). In this 'Self-Reg in the Early Years' Institute Dr. Shanker and other members of the TMC team will look at how we can help children deal successfully with these challenges and begin to learn how to manage these new stresses on their own.
The Self-Reg needs of children in the early years (from birth to 8 years old) vary widely. Explore new understandings of child development, stress, energy systems, the brain, and self-regulation and consider implications for practice in early learning centers and the first years of formal schooling (K-3). The morning session will involve two early years talks from Dr. Shanker and some embedded Self-Reg experiences. In the afternoon workshop, TMC's Self-Reg Specialists will facilitate dialogue, exploration of strategies, and planning for practical next steps that can be applied from this session in your early childhood programs, communities, and K-3 classrooms the very next day.
To register for both days of the institute at 10% off please register here.
Parking charges at the venue may apply; you will be advised in advance by email.
