Yoga and Mindfulness
Students with and without special needs have difficulties at times in the way they process information. Such difficulties may affect behavior, academic performance, functional self-help skills, and school performance.
The morning focuses on the development of the sensory systems, the differences between sensory acuity and sensory processing, how this may impact classroom performance and participation and sensory supports for the classroom teacher.
Yoga and mindfulness in the classroom will be discussed in the afternoon. Information will cover the neurological implications and what the research is showing about these cost-effective and sustainable tools for fostering peaceful, productive, learning-ready students and classrooms. This session will provide simple, easy to use and effective ways of incorporating yoga and mindfulness in the classroom.
