In a perfect world every child abuse investigation would be easy to investigate and prosecute. Unfortunately, that is not the reality. Because these cases are most often a crime of secrecy, isolation, manipulation, and extreme pre-meditation, the emotional effects last far longer than the physical act and can affect victims for their entire life. This five part series will discuss all the complicated dynamics of sexual abuse and how they affect whether or not children will disclose, when they disclose and how they disclose. Participants will be armed with information that will help them evaluate children’s statements and make case decisions that both protect children and seek justice for offenders.
Lunch will be provided.
