COURSE OVERVIEW Bioskills Training courses consist of a presentation and a cadaveric interactive session. The presentation will review the history and evolution of the procedure, system instrumentation, and preoperative protocols. Participants will also learn the surgical technique and proper patient selection while reviewing cases. Following the didactic portion of the course, participants will engage in the cadaveric lab which will begin with a hands-on surgical demonstration by the course facilitator. After the demonstration, surgeon participants will be paired with another surgeon participant; each will perform the course specific procedure on a cadaver and then assist their partner. Zimmer Trabecular Metal Total Ankle Replacement Surgical Technique Course The course covers the surgical technique, clinical considerations, and surgical tips and pearls for the implantation of the TM Total Ankle system. The TM Total Ankle implantation involves a unique lateral surgical approach. Hence, its innovative instrumentation is designed to facilitate this approach and provide consistent results. The course aims to describe the use of the instrumentation system and how to effectively integrate it in the operating room. The course will also include discussion about how to address simple to complex procedures, patient indications and post-surgical protocol. Participants will have the opportunity to observe and participate in up to two full surgical procedures.
