The SGNA Florida Annual Joint Meeting is the leading event for GI nurses in the state of Florida. Joined with members of FGS, the conference is designed to enhance the knowledge of individuals working in the gastroenterology field. 

The introduction and advances of innovative diagnostic techniques and novel therapeutics has created an exciting range of approaches to many important areas of GI disease and patient care. This program is designed to update current clinical knowledge and processes to optimize clinical care for patients.

The structure of the program includes a mix of didactic presentations delivered by expert faculty, interactive audience discussions as well as significant question and answer opportunities.

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the epidemiology and pathophysiology of interval cancers and the impact on clinical guidelines

  • Understand the role of radio frequency ablation for Barrett’s esophagus and post-ablative surveillance
  • Recognize the latest guidelines in the approach to acute non-variceal bleeding
  • Understand the optimal timing of endoscopy and pharmacotherapies in the management of gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Understand the newest therapeutic modalities for treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding
