AIA Kentucky is committed to seeing our Emerging Professionals find success in the pursuit of licensure. We understand that this can be a long an arduous process, so we want to assist in every way we can. The Sights on Success program, which debuted in 2015, was designed to help ARE candidates succeed by introducing a structured exam timeline, establishing peer accountability, and providing valuable study resources at a dramatically reduced cost. It is our hope that the support of peers and the existence of an established schedule will help to keep participants focused and driven, which will translate to a high rate of success. It will also create a group of young professionals who experience the value of AIA early in their careers.
In SoS 2.0, all six divisions of the new ARE 5.0 will be covered over a 10-month period during which candidates may participate in either or both of two, five-month sessions, as described in the schedule below. Each participant will receive an online subscription for AIA ARE Prep powered by Black Spectacles for the duration of their enrollment in the program and, to supplement their independent review of these online tutorials, AIA Kentucky will facilitate multiple sessions for group study and for professional volunteers to address any questions regarding the content.
Approximately seven weeks will be devoted to each exam: five weeks for study and preparation with our professionals, and two weeks for the participants to take the exam and a brief break before proceeding with the next division. This pattern will repeat for each of the six divisions under ARE 5.0, in the order that NCARB has suggested is ideal for those in transition from version 4.0. This is because individuals who have already completed Construction Documents & Services, Programming Planning & Practice and Site Planning &Design under ARE 4.0 may complete the ARE in only 5 exams if they transition to ARE 5.0 and successfully complete Project Planning & Design and Project Development & Documentation.
The cost to participants is $245 per session ($400 for both if purchased together) for AIA Associate Members or $325 per session ($525 for both if purchased together) for nonmembers.* This represents a significant savings from the individual license fee of $99/month for those enrolling on their own, and includes the benefit of group workshops with professional discussion leaders at no additional cost. Candidates can sign up on their own, and firm principals also are encouraged to underwrite the program fee for their employees to participate. What a great way for firms to support and encourage their young professionals to complete the program and earn their license!
*NO REFUNDS will be provided once enrolled in the program. Please see the Fees tab above for additional information.
