Dear participants, friends and colleagues of SPCC 2012,
A warm welcome from the Scientific Committee of the Singapore Palliative Care Conference (SPCC) 2012!
Palliative care has been growing in leaps and bounds over the past 20 years with the opening and expansion of many services in acute hospitals, inpatient hospices and home care. It was also accredited officially by the Singapore Medical Council as a sub-specialty in 2007. SPCC has been an integral part of this growth and has become the bed-rock of palliative care education and research in Singapore in recent years.
We are extremely proud this year to have been able to invite a talented and diverse group of both overseas and local speakers to this year's conference. They include the distinguished Drs Andy Billings and Susan Block from Harvard Medical School and Dr Amy Chow from the Hong Kong University.
The programme has been specially planned to cater to ALL Healthcare Professionals involved in the care of patients and families with advance illnesses. We have prepared tracks and Pre-Conference Workshops designed for Palliative Care Educators, General Practitioners, Nurses, Social Workers, Volunteers and Allied Health Professionals - we have something for everyone!
We want to announce the closure of all our Pre-Conference Workshops which we are pleased to share, has been over-subscribed. We want to thank the participants for your support. We are confident that you will enjoy the workshops.
We would also like to extend our special thanks and appreciation to Lien Centre for Palliative Care for sponsoring the visit of our keynote speakers: Dr Andy Billings and Dr Susan Block from Harvard Medical School as well as extending bursaries to 20 other participants of the Conference.
Their generous philanthropy has made a tremendous difference to the organisation and success of the Conference.
For those who have missed the opportunity to register for the Pre-Conference Workshops, do join the Main Conference where there will be ample opportunities to meet and interact with our renowned foreign and local speakers.
