Welcome Letter from the Dean

Seventy years ago, at a time of global realignment, the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) was founded as a place to study and engage the world.  In honor of this significant milestone for our School, I am pleased to invite you to attend SIPA’s 70th Anniversary Celebration Weekend, which will take place from March 31st to April 2nd, 2017 in New York City.

The Celebration Weekend will bring together our diverse, accomplished community to reflect on SIPA’s rich and impactful history, to recognize the significant contributions of our students, faculty, and alumni to global public policy, and to engage in a discussion about the world’s critical issues.

We have planned an exciting set of activities that include a reception for SIPA alumni and friends in the Low Library Rotunda on Friday, March 31st, a day-long SIPA Forum on Saturday, April 1st in which our faculty, alumni and leading experts will discuss a range of current public policy challenges, and the Global Leadership Awards Gala on Saturday evening, April 1st at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine. Other activities will also be available, including the Dinkins Forum on Thursday, March 30th and optional NYC cultural activities on Sunday, April 2nd.

We hope you will join us for this special occasion to reconnect with the School and, importantly, each other and to celebrate SIPA’s seven decades of global impact. We look forward to seeing you in April 2017!

Sincerely yours,
Dean Janow Signature
