We're Better Together: Understanding the Role of Culture in SNAP-Ed


This training is intended to increase our capacity to effectively address cultural differences by recognizing when cultural factors may influence interpersonal dynamics.

Who should attend?

This training is open to all SIAs, LIAs, and their subcontractors.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Review the definition of diversity and share their own
  • Identify challenges SNAP recipients may face that affects their ability to maintain a healthy lifestyle
  • Develop a plan on how to learn about a culture they serve
  • Review resources and identify content that can be used in their workspace
  • Review the term cultural humility and discuss the relevance to SNAP-Ed work
  • Brainstorm ways to approach unfamiliar/delicate intercultural situations
