The Nevada Mining Association and Nevada Division of Minerals hold two earth science workshops a year, one in Southern Nevada and one in Northern Nevada. Workshops are designed to educate active K-12 Nevada teachers about the earth sciences, the importance of mined materials, and the role that mining plays in our lives. Teachers will have the tools to provide accurate, standards-based education to their students using the classroom materials and lessons provided in the workshop,
The workshops are designed so that participants will:
- Receive and share information to increase their knowledge of earth sciences, language arts and social studies.
- Analyze information to develop lesson plans appropriate to all grade levels.
- Understand the importance of mining and the minerals industry in today’s society
Teachers can receive one inservice credit for attending this workshop.
