Attend an Abolitionist Rally
Attend an exciting and inspiring Abolitionist Rally. Hear the famous abolitionist Lucretia Mott (impersonator) deliver a passionate speech in favor of freeing the slaves
Travel on the Underground Railroad
Join a group of runaway slaves as they travel to freedom on the Underground Railroad. Visit a Station on the Underground Railroad and experience what it was like to hide from the slave catchers.
Shop at the 1860's Market
Bring items to sell to the market, and shop for items brought by other girls. Any items are welcome, but you can make it fun by bringing items that girls would have sold and purchased during the 1860’s. Ideas include bread, muffins, cookies, dolls, marbles, jacks, hopscotch marker, yo-yo, wooden ruler, chalk, small chalkboard, pencils, molasses candy, and toy soldiers.
Join the Ladies Aid Society
Help the soldiers by mending blankets, making quilts and pillowcases, sewing uniforms, preparing food for soldiers.
Join the network of Union Spies
Meet Elizabeth Van Lew, at her mansion, and join her network of Union Spies. Learn how to enter the enemy’s camp in disguise to hear their secret plans, write secret messages, and carry those messages safely through enemy territory.
Learn to dance in the style of the mid 19th century. Enjoy a fun dance with your Liberty Girls friends.
Plenty of Mothers and Big Sisters are needed to assist the girls with the activities and to assist with set up, clean up, and lunch. Mothers may earn free tickets for their daughters and other girls for volunteering.
