Stepping On

A Falls Prevention Program

Have you fallen recently or do you have a fear of falling? Do you have an elderly loved-one worried about falling or who has fallen recently?
Falling is very common for older people; it also can be very serious. Stepping On is a workshop that has been shown to reduce falls in older people.
Why should you be concerned about falls?
• More than a third of those 65 or older fall each year
• Falls are the leading cause of injury for older adults
• Falls are also the leading cause for hospital stay for injury or death for older adults
The two hour Stepping On workshop meets once a week for seven-weeks. It is co-led by Legacy Employees who, like you, are interested in reducing falls. The class is to help seniors learn exercises and ways to prevent falls. Guest experts from Legacy give tips on exercise, eyesight, safety and medication.
Stepping On is for anyone who:
• Is 65 or older
• Has had a fall in the past year
• Is fearful of falling
• Lives at home
• Does not have dementia
Stepping On will be offered at Mount Hood Medical Center, starting September 26th. The cost for the seven-week workshop is only $10.
Space is limited.

Every Tuesday for 7 weeks, starting on September 26th.
