Summer of Service Meal Pack Challenge (Hub Site)

Getting There

**SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE**  For those volunteering on Sunday, September 10, please note that the Nation’s Triathlon will also be taking place near the National Mall, and road closures and detours will be in effect between the hours of 6:00 am and 1:15 pm.  Please allow extra time for getting to the meal pack. For a full list of road closures related to the Nation’s Triathlon, click here.

The event will take place on the National Mall at the JFK Hockey Field, located next to the World War II Memorial, beside the Reflecting Pool.

There is no public parking next to the field, but there are parking lots and spaces located on the east side of the Tidal Basin along Ohio and Maine Avenues. There are also numerous parking garages surrounding the National Mall. If you are planning to drive and park, please be sure to allow for extra time to park and then walk to the event before your shift begins. You should be at the event at least 20 minutes before your shift.

Public Transportation
We recommend that volunteers use a variety of public transportation options, including Metrorail and bus, to travel to the National Mall and the JFK Hockey Field next to the World War II Memorial, the location of the meal packing event.

The closest Metro stations are Smithsonian and Federal Triangle, both on the Orange and Blue lines. On Sunday, September 10, Metro trains begin at 8:00 am. On Monday, September 11, trains begin at 5am. Please consult metro timetables when planning your trip.

If you are taking the Circulator National Mall Route, get off at the Washington Monument Stop. Please check the Circulator Map for exact location. You can also check out the numerous bus options at
