SUNY Leadership Alumni Event

The SUNY Leadership Alumni Event is an opportunity for alumnus of SUNY’s leadership development programs to come together to strengthen networks and learn new leadership skills.

There will be three key aspects of our January gathering. The day will start with an engaging presentation by Garry Sanders on how to become an effective coach in the workplace. Garry is a certified executive coach as well as a member of the faculty of the Academy for Innovative Higher Education Leadership sponsored by Georgetown and Arizona State Universities (extended bio attached). Participants will learn tips and skills from the coaching profession to help them improve their own leadership skills and to help those around them perform more effectively. At lunch, we divide into small working groups to discuss the following question: What should be the role of the SUNY Leadership Alumni and how can SAIL help support the group?

In the afternoon, we will have another interactive session that will draw on the skills learned in the morning session using case studies drawn from the experience of the participants. To prepare for this session, we invite you to submit a short (1-2 page) case study based on a difficult situation that you were/are dealing with in regards to an employee or colleague. Instructions for preparing the case study are available on the right hand side of this page.
