The 4 ½ day Level 1 course covers general operational concepts and editing of Survalent SCADA systems. It will be of interest to both new SCADA users, or individuals requiring refresher training. Upon completion, students will be able to perform basic database and graphics development, and trouble-shooting.The Level I course begins with a review of typical network communications schemes, including connections from SCADA Master to substations and down-line equipment. Students learn concepts of database structure and Graphical User Interface (GUI) for representation of real-time grid data. The database training includes configuration of communications lines, entering RTU’s and IED’s with point telemetry, and building historical data sets, reports, etc. Students receive GUI training including building Drawing and Text Styles, Symbols, Pmacros, and a 1-line diagram. They will import a CAD file, and create an overview. Additionally, students will learn SCADA maintenance procedures, and review a range of optional SCADA features.Prerequisite: None. Experience with navigation of a Windows-based SCADA system is beneficial.Each student should bring a laptop PC (Windows Vista OS or higher), and an external mouse. Survalent will provide software and a license dongle.
