Teaching oral language requires understanding of what to teach and tools to teach it. This session will present the research and demonstrate resources that show you how to implement a whole school approach that will support the development of robust schema, through a resource that builds on existing and teaches new vocabulary.
Participants will be provided with a framework for exemplary language teaching practice in the early years. Daily oral language/literacy lessons are integrated into a thematic approach, based around a daily routine where focus areas including phonological awareness, semantics (vocabulary), comprehension (including concept development), grammar and narrative are taught.
Target audience: Teachers, curriculum leaders, senior leadership teams and school leaders.
