Teaching Scholars Program (TSP)

The TSP is designed to enhance the teaching skills of health care professionals who have, or will have, a mandate to support learners within their role, and to develop expertise in education. The program will focus on the essentials of adult learning and teaching. Participants will learn how to recognize and capitalize on learning opportunities to create and support a learning environment within the healthcare context.

The focus of this innovative program includes effective education design, clinical teaching strategies and knowledge transfer approaches, as well as program evaluation and learner assessment. Graduates of the program will be able to actively contribute to the culture of teaching and learning with the goal of improving care. The aim of this program is to provide participants with foundational principles and approaches to teaching and learning within a clinical setting that promotes interprofessional education and collaborative care.

Upon successful completion of this program participants will have completed 11 sessions of the TSP and a project that integrates the application of education scholar-ship into practice. This program is to be completed within a one year time frame, completing 40 hours of course time in order to receive a Certificate of Completion.
