TEHDI Regional Learning Community Summits

Welcome to the PHSSC's Newborn Screening Unit Texas Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (TEHDI) Continuum of Care Regional Learning Community Summits to be held at Education Service Centers (ESCs) around the state. The Summits will travel to seven (7) cities across Texas in 2018.  Below are the 7 regions this meeting will be held in 2018:

  •  Victoria, TX – January 17, 2018 
  • Corpus Christi, TX – January 18, 2018
  • Edinburg, TX – January 19, 2018 
  • Abilene, TX – January 30, 2018
  • San Angelo, TX – January 31, 2018 
  • Midland, TX – February 1, 2018 
  • San Antonio, TX – March 9, 2018
     

Summit Goals: 

  • Engage healthcare professionals, early intervention/education professionals and families within the early hearing detection and intervention system to effectively contribute to the healthcare, intervention and education system of children who are deaf or hard of hearing;

  • Develop and foster collaborative partnerships with early intervention programs to ensure children who are deaf or hard of hearing have access to the necessary referral(s), care coordination and pertinent services that will support language acquisition; and

  • Address the importance of families within the early hearing detection and intervention system by incorporating family members within the learning communities as well as facilitating partnerships between families and various providers/programs within the state.

 

Who should attend? 

The target audience for the Summits will be pediatric audiologists, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physicians, early intervention providers, public/private school employees who encounter infants who are deaf or hard of hearing; as well as parents of children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
