TETL-Seeds to Supper

Join us for our "Seeds to Supper" series where students in grades 3-5 get hands on experience moving through the food chain from growing to eating. Each location will provide a link to that chain. Attend all three sessions and a certificate of completion will be awarded. Great explorers make great future leaders!

UW-Superior and UW-Extension have collaborated to present "Food Day."  Nutrition Program Educator Tarah Nichols will present curriculum teaching students how to find and eat those healthier foods that go from garden to table.  Agriculture/Horticulture Educator Jane Anklam will assist students in planting a healthy vegetable for harvest.

What happens once our food is harvested and leaves its growing environment?  How is our food delivered to stores and where in the world does it come from?  How do stores prepare the deliveries for sale?  Join us for a "behind the scenes" tour of the Oaks Avenue Super One where these questions and many more will be answered. 

Chartwells  UW-Superior Campus

Saturday, March 11, 2017          9 - 11:00 a.m.

Executive Chef Brian Sullivan from Chartwells will explain what it takes to be a chef and the skills necessary to prepare healthy foods in large and small quantities. Participants will tour an industrial kitchen and each student will be able to prepare a dish.
