The 13th Annual Empowering Professionals Conference: The Science of Early Intervention

The Empowering Professionals Conference is a day designed to encourage and promote best practices in early intervention by supporting early interventionists with opportunities to connect with colleagues and like-minded individuals, to learn and gather resources, and to share and support each other in their work with young children and their families.

This year, a keynote presentation by Laura Fish sets the tone for The 13th Annual Empowering Professionals Conference: The Science of Early Intervention. In "Early Intervention with the Brain in Mind: The Brain Reasons for Behavior", Laura examines the science behind the importance of early intervention for infants and toddlers with disabilities and their caregivers. Considering the role of epigenetics in brain development, Laura will help participants strengthen their ability to support teaching, caregiving, and early intervention based on science, not habits.

Laura will also build upon her keynote with a breakout session addressing how the brain's primary need for safety, satisfaction and connection drives behavior of both children and adults.    Other breakout sessions available to all participants cover a range of topics including: Self-Care; Feeding Issues in Early Intervention; Evaluation of Infants and Toddlers Beyond Standardized Assessment; the Unique Needs of Military Families and the Impact of Deployment; and Bagless Early Intervention Strategies.
