The 24th Annual Texas Quest for Excellence Conference and Award & Recognition Ceremony

Dear Attendees,

Welcome to the 24th Annual Quest for Excellence Conference:

It is with great pleasure that I personally invite you to the 24th Annual Quality Texas Foundation Award Recognition Event to be held at the Westin Hotel in historical Houston, Texas on June 25-27, 2017. On behalf of the Board of Directors, our Panel of Judges, our Leadership Development Seminar participants, and the over 300 Examiners, we all hope this will be a great turning point in your organizational and personal development.

Quest is the official forum for the Texas Award for Performance Excellence recipients to share their exceptional performance management practices. This year’s conference offers a volunteer welcome event Sunday evening, a training day on Monday, and an Awards/Recognition Luncheon on Monday and one on Tuesday, along with three tracks (education, health care, and business/Government/NFP), several National Baldrige Winners, and opportunities to learn from the very best organizations in Texas.

The Conference theme is People First and how to improve the human capabilities/capacities in your organization. We will be recognizing fourteen organizations that are striving to become better by taking care of their people, working with their customers/students/patients and improving their financial resources.

This year features two keynote speakers. On Monday, Mr. Bob Fangmeyer, Baldrige Director, will discuss the reason people should be first and the importance of Category 5 in the Baldrige Framework. On Tuesday, Mr. Greg Haralson, CEO, Memorial Hermann Sugar Land, 2016 National Baldrige Recipient, 2014 QTF Award Recipient, will discuss the organizational journey focusing on Category 5.

I am honored to be the opening keynote where I will have a short session entitled “We Should Not Put People First: They Don’t Deserve to be First.” This will be a sarcastic, interactive presentation that should be light and somewhat humorous but with significant content. Bring all the naysayers (our people don’t really matter) and let me agree with them – momentarily?

It is our hope that we can become a full partner to improve your organization and your capacity and capability of your people. We look forward to having you join us as we celebrate another great year of performance excellence in Texas and Puerto Rico!
