Uganda is a land-locked country in East Africa. It is bordered to the east by Kenya, to the north by South Sudan, to the west by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to the south-west by Rwanda, and to the south by Tanzania. The southern part of the country includes a substantial portion of Lake Victoria, shared with Kenya and Tanzania. Uganda is in the African Great Lakes region. It also lies within the Nile basin, and has a varied but generally modified equatorial climate.

Entebbe International AirportEntebee International Airport is the principal international airport of Uganda. It is near the town of Entebee, on the shores of Lake Victoria, and about 41 kilometers (25 mi) by road southwest of the central business district of Kampala, the capital and largest city in Uganda. The airport consists of two terminals that handle domestic and international flights respectively. Uganda for the most part is a cash based society. The Uganda Shilling is the official currency of Uganda, the unofficial other currency is the US Dollar. Occasionally credit cards are accepted. Visa cards are accepted the most followed by Master Card however, Discover and American Express cards are rarely accepted. There is typically a 5-6% or more surcharge for the privilege of using a credit card (due to the fees that are incurred by merchants in Uganda). Many hotels, safari companies and airlines will ask for US dollars. Uganda Shillings will be accepted in many cases (not always at market exchange rate). Traveler Checks are often harder to cash and are cumbersome requiring extra fees at banks.LanguageThe primary language in Uganda is English.
ElectricityIn Uganda, the power sockets are of type G (see image). 240 volts is the voltage in Uganda and you will need a UK plug. You can buy a converter plug that will make your appliance fit locally. The standard frequency is 50 HZ.
