The 4th Global Health Security Agenda High-Level Ministerial Meeting

The 4th GHSA High Level Ministerial Meeting
25-27 October 2017, Kampala, Uganda

“Health Security for All: Engaging Communities, Non-governmental Organizations, and the Private Sector”

For the first time, the 2017 Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) High-Level Ministerial Meeting will be held on the African continent in Uganda. Uganda is one of the most active and successful participants of GHSA programs in Africa and is proud to host this ground-breaking event.

The GHSA was launched in 2014 to establish a set of common international standards for detection of, response to, and recovery from epidemic threats. Public health crises including HIV, SARS, Avian Flu, Ebola, and Zika have highlighted the reality and urgency of these threats, as well as the greater cost of response in comparison with prevention.

GHSA has adopted the One-Health Platform with the goal of helping all countries develop a multisectoral national public health systems that can detect, respond to, and contain both human and zoonotic epidemic threats for the benefit of their own citizens, wildlife, the environment and the global population. The largest and deadliest epidemics are often spread through animals, and containing them implies cross-border controls and recognition of intentional threats.

The Meeting Agenda will focus on the thematic issues of engaging communities, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector.
