This session will provide early childhood special education teachers and administrators with the knowledge and skills to plan and deliver effective instruction that will enable ALL students to progress towards positive outcomes. This session outlines how preschool programs can explore and develop a framework which addresses assessment, scope and sequence, activities and instruction, and progress monitoring. Strategies will be provided to help teachers and administrators implement the preschool curriculum framework into classroom practices.
Topics will include:
Early childhood special education (ECSE) teachers and early childhood (EC) teachers serving students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs); ECSE and/or EC teachers who are a team or teach in the same school are encouraged to attend; Administrators with oversight of ECSE programs are strongly encouraged to attend alongside teachers. This Workshop is an optional technical assistance, available to any school- and division-level staff in a school that is not fully accredited. The session is designed and delivered by staff of the Office of Special Education Instructional Services. While the Workshop is optional, schools with a Corrective Action Plan or Reconstitution Agreement are strongly encouraged to attend and can document their attendance on the Corrective Action Plan as appropriate.
Space is limited and registration is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. We will accept 5 per division.
Time: Registration and a light breakfast will be from 9 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. The Workshop will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end by 3:30 p.m.
Institute Materials: Participant materials and an agenda will be provided at the Workshop.
Meals: A light breakfast and buffet lunch will be provided.
