The Economics of Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain Technologies

This event is closed. If you have any questions, please contact the planner directly.

Recent years have witnessed the advances of the distributed ledger technology (DLT) and the development of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis will host a workshop on August 10, 2018 to provide an opportunity for researchers from academia and central banks, developers and investors to discuss theoretical and policy issues related to these new developments. We are interested in both theoretical and applied work. Potential topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

• Cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies
• Digital assets and smart contracts
• Other applications of DLT
• Central bank digital currencies (CBDC)
• Impacts on banking, financial stability and monetary policy
• New regulatory challenges
