Special Guest Biographies


Lara Bazelon, nationally renowned author and contributing writer for The Atlantic (including the evocative “What It Takes to Be a Trial Lawyer If You’re Not a Man,” September 2018), Slate, The New York Times, The Washington Post and POLITICO, and associate professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law. Lara’s book, Rectify: The Power of Restorative Justice After Wrongful Conviction, was published in October 2018.


ScheindlinJudge Shira A. Scheindlin, (retired) US District Court Judge for the Southern District of New York, a lecturer and frequently published author, including the op-ed “Female Lawyers Can Talk, Too,” The New York Times. Judge Scheindlin is known for presiding over complex and highly-publicized cases involving civil rights and public policy, and her opinions in Zubulake v. UBS Warburg LLC and Pension Committee v. Banc of America Securities have come to be recognized as case law landmarks.
