"Helping shape the future of coatings research and education since 1973 "
In 1973, Drs.George Bufkin, Gary Wildman, and Shelby Thames formulated plans for the first International Waterborne and Higher-Solids Symposium.
Today, after 44 years, the symposium is known as the Waterborne High-Solids and Powder Coating Symposium and continues to serve the international coatings community by offering presentations and short courses on the latest technological advances, emphasizing the need for environmental protection and high performance.
The symposium is held at the New Orleans Marriott, the week before Mardi Gras. The internationally renowned symposium offers a dual track schedule on the latest coatings technology and developments by outstanding industrial and academic scientists.
The symposium also incorporates a three-day Technology Showcase, presenting emerging technologies, new materials, innovative services, and state-of-art equipment in an exhibit hall format. Attendees are encouraged to visit the exhibits and interact with our exhibitors.
We are always delighted to showcase students' work in our student poster session. Come and ask questions and interact with the future generation of coatings scientists! We are pleased to offer the annual best student poster award. Join us for our student poster session and reception. Resume books will be available at the reception and interviews can be arranged on site.
In conjunction with the 2017 Symposium, we offer four short course options:
Drs. James W. Rawlins : Fundamentals of Coatings (1 day add on course to The Science of Formulating)
Drs. James W. Rawlins and Shelby F. Thames: The Science of Formulating
Dr. Robson F. Storey: Reformulating to Waterborne Coatings
Drs. Sarah Morgan and Les Goff: Statistical Design of Experiments
Courses will be held February 19 - 24, 2017.
Make plans today to join us at the 44th annual Waterborne Symposium.
