The YMCA has been in Milwaukee for 154 years. "Our goal was to ensure the brand still reflected our goals for and our work in the community,” Donna Bembenek, SVP of Philanthropy and Communication Strategy at the YMCA of Greater Milwaukee explains. “Consistent, relevant branding is essential for any company and a nonprofit is no exception. So that’s why we deployed an extensive market research undertaking.” Bembenek said their research lead them to a brand revitalization. “We saw there was a real disparity between how the people who work for the YMCA view ourselves and how the general public viewed us.”And that is when the Y began to formulate a plan. Do you see the logo to your left? The Y's updated logo - it's first change in nearly 60 years - was just the tip of the iceberg; a hint of decisive transformation to come. Changes that would lead to the brand's total revitalization that re-claimed it's spot as a leader in the nonprofit community and beyond. Come witness the journey for yourself and get an exclusive look at the steps it took to get there.
