Mindfulness, Memory, and Brain Fitness

 "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind."

- Matthew 22:37

What does it mean for us to love God with all out mind as we age? In 2019, the Third Act Seminar will explore that question, focusing on aging and the health of our brains.

The U.S. Census Bureau reports average life expectancy in the United States to be 79 years, which means more of us will live to be 100 or older. Peak brain performance comes at about half that age. What are the implications of brain performance for us as we live longer and longer?

This workshop will explore four key elements of brain fitness:

  • factors that impact brain fitness;
  • neuroplasticity (the ability of the brain to adapt and reorganize in response to changing needs);
  • signs and symptoms of declining brain health and memory loss;
  • the role of our faith as we endeavor to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind.

Please join the Reverend Lori Neff LaRue, the Board's Director, Wholeness Education, for what promises to be an engaging exploration of brain fitness, and enjoy robust fellowship, prayer and worship, and lunch conversation with colleagues on the journey. You also will hear helpful information about your benefits.
