In conjunction with AFP-New York Finger Lakes, Pro Bono Partnership presents a one-hour workshop addressing the most common legal issues that may affect your organization.  Learn how you can identify potential legal concerns before they become actual problems.

  • Corporate law – the roles and responsibilities of board members
  • Employment law – proper classifications of workers, best practices for managing volunteers
  • Intellectual property – protecting your own, avoiding infringement of others
  • Regulatory and tax obligations – what to file, when to file

  Judy has worked in private practice at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, Tenzer Greenblatt (now Blank Rome LLP) and Kittay & Gershfeld, P.C. She also served as the Assistant Attorney General in Charge of the Westchester Regional Office of the New York State Attorney General’s Office. Judy has been actively involved in several nonprofits, has taught mock trial at a local high school, lectured on various topics at SUNY Purchase, served on the Board of Trustees of her synagogue and coached a recreational basketball team. Judy is admitted to the bar in New York. She is a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Boston University Law School.

 

Lunch will be provided. Walk-ins are welcome but registration is encouraged.
 
About AFP: Join the AFP Finger Lakes Chapter for monthly, educational gatherings throughout 2017. Programs are aimed at those doing development work, including development officers, executive directors, board members and anyone charged with raising, stewarding or allocating funds. It's a great time to network with fundraising professionals from all over the Finger Lakes and learn about fundraising best practices.
