“Training Course in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry ”

This implant training course is specifically designed for dentists who have limited implant surgical experience and would like to improve his/her surgical skills in implant dentistry. The course participants will learn how to treatment plan and manage soft tissue problem around teeth and dental implant. The participants will also learn how to preserve ridge after tooth extraction by using minimal invasive and flapless approach followed by socket preservation or immediate implant placement.

The five-day intense course in periodontology and implant dentistry includes in-depth and up-to date lectures given by outstanding professors in College of Dentistry at The Ohio State university and shoulder-to-shoulder hands-on human head workshop. The lecture topics include implant case selection, pre-surgical radiographic assessments, surgical anatomy, surgical stent design and fabrication, digital workflow and provisional restoration in implant dentistry, contemporary periodontal plastic surgery, predictable soft tissue augmentation around dental implant, horizontal and vertical ridge augmentation, direct and indirect sinus augmentation, and a number of suturing techniques. A full day hands-on human head workshop will be given after the lectures and the participants will have the chance to practice soft tissue graft in the morning and hard tissue graft in the afternoon. The participants will learn how to harvest soft tissue graft and practice on securing a free gingival or a connective tissue graft. Furthermore, the participants will be able to use ultrasonic surgical instruments on sinus lateral window, ramus block graft harvest and minimal invasive tooth extraction.

Each participant will be given a comprehensive manual which compiles PowerPoint slides from the lecture. This makes following the lecture more enjoyable than having to take detailed notes, and provides an outstanding reference back in the office after the course.
