On the Occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Program

  1. The U.S and Japanese researchers involved in the USJCMSP will continue to focus on joint research that will benefit the health of populations in the Asia-Pacific Region.

     

  2. The USJCMSP will continue to cultivate an ethos of long-term research collaboration, encouraging the development of novel ideas from U.S., Japanese and regional scientists.

     

  3. The USJCMSP Panels will continue to seek opportunities to work together and to encourage scientific cooperation across scientific fields, while the Immunology Board will continue to strengthen its engagement as a cross-cutting resource for the USJCMSP Panels.

     

  4. The USJCMSP will continue and expand the inclusion and participation of the regional scientists in scientific planning committees and CMSP activities.

     

  5. The USJCMSP will continue its efforts to increase the participation of young/early-stage U.S., Japanese, and Regional scientists in the CMSP.

     

  6. The USJCMSP will make a special effort to involve female scientists and other underrepresented groups in USJCMSP activities.

     

  7. To expand regionalization of the USJCMSP, it will continue to convene the annual Regional Conference on “Emerging and Re-Emerging Infectious Diseases in the Pacific Rim”, preferably at sites outside the U.S. and Japan through the engagement of regional co-hosts.

     

  8. The U.S. and Japan will seek additional funds to support expanded or new USJCMSP activities.

     

  9. The USJCMSP will seek to engage with other global, regional, bilateral, and national organizations that share its vision.

     

  10. Japan and the U.S. will advocate the USJCMSP programs and activities by enhancing a web presence and other communication method.

     

  11. The USJCMSP will enhance records to archive the accomplishments of the Panels and Board.
