U.S.-Japan Cooperative Medical Sciences Program (USJCMSP) 21st International Conference on Emerging Infectious Diseases in the Pacific Rim

IMPORTANT:  Due to the U.S.-North Korea Summit, we have been informed by the Ministry of Public Security that the conference meetings can no longer be held at the Melia Hanoi hotel.

The EID conference plenary sessions will be held at the La Thanh Hotel on 26 February-1 March. The panel meetings will take place at La Thanh Hotel and Candle Hotel on 28 February-1 March.

Transportation will be provided to the La Thanh and Candle Hotel.  

Poster presentations will take place on 26-27 February only. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Focus: The focus of this conference is bacterial and parasitic diseases of importance in the Asia-Pacific region. The topics include One Health, antimicrobial resistance, genomics, technologies and microbiome.

Objectives: The objectives of this conference are to share current research findings and foster existing and potential international research collaborations that engage investigators and institutions in the Asia-Pacific region and the United States.

Scientific Agenda: The scientific program has been developed by an international scientific planning committee associated with the Acute Respiratory Infections, Cancer, Cholera and Other Bacterial Enteric Infections, Immunology, Mycobacteria, Nutrition & Metabolism and Parasitic Diseases Panels of the USJCMSP and with the Ministry of Health of Vietnam.

Participants: The invited participants include researchers of all levels, government and public officials, and representatives from academia and other public and private institutions. Participants are primarily from countries within the Pacific Rim region, including Japan and the United States.

Sponsors: In part, under the framework of the USJCMSP, the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH); the Japanese Ministries of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW), Education Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), and Foreign Affairs (MOFA); and the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) will co-sponsor this conference. The Ministry of Health of Vietnam will be the local host and also a co-sponsor of this conference.

Abstract Submission: The deadline for abstract submission has passed. Applicants that submitted an abstract before the deadline (November 12, 2018) were notified in mid-December of acceptance/refusal.
