Pre-Freshman Seminar Abroad

This exciting program will take a group of new SDSU freshmen, together with outstanding SDSU instructors, to begin their academic journey with this class before the semester starts.

Travel and explore historical events and contemporary issues in Ireland or Germany which will provide a rich context to explore the nature of our Pre-Freshman Seminar Abroad program. In this seminar, students and faculty leaders will begin on the SDSU campus and then travel to Ireland or Germany to confront ideas and subjects that excite, challenge, and dismay. A variety of experiences will permit comparing and contrasting cultural, political, social and legal issues in both Ireland and Germany with those similar issues in the U.S.

Final Date to Apply - April 17, 2017 (For both Pre-Freshman Seminar Abroad programs)

Pre-Freshman Seminar Abroad will help students understand their emerging roles and responsibilities through a common intellectual experience. This Pre-Freshman Seminar Abroad offers academic work designed specifically for first-year students. Students will analyze events in the chosen locations and consider the resulting effects on the land, people and governments.  These programs connect first year students to experiences that will impact their own college careers and fields of study.
