UCLA - Terasaki Life Sciences Building

About This Show:

ONE BILLION DOLLARS. That's the average amount UCLA has received towards research projects EACH year since 2009-10. (http://www.ucla.edu/research/)
The Terasaki Life Sciences Building is named for Paul Terasaki, a UCLA Professor Emeritus of Sugery as well as a pioneer in organ transplantation. Prior to the building's opening, Terasaki also made a $50 million gift to Life Sciences, the largest to the department in UCLA's history. Constructed in 2008 and opened in 2010, the Terasaki Life Sciences Building contains the Broad Stem Cell Research Center- California Institute for Regenerative Medicine Laboratory as well as space for Integrative Biology & Psysiology, Molecular, Cell & Developmental Biology, and Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. However, although the building contains 528 rooms over six floors, none are lecture halls, instead the building is constructed of laboratories and office space.
