"Planning for the Energy Challenge" The UKELA Annual Conference 2012 takes place at Southampton Solent University, over the weekend of Friday 6th - Sunday 8th July. This location for this years conference is the International Maritime City of Southampton, go west and you immediately enter the New Forest. This ancient forest consists of 145 square miles of open heath and woodland, a natural habitat for its famous wild ponies for hundres of years. The new Sea City Museum is opening in April 2012 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Titanic.
The Conference will gather leading speakers from the public and private sectors. Delegates will get the latest updates and an opportunity to discuss the recent changes to the planning system and the major challenge in meeting projected energy needs, while at the same time tackling climate change. There will be the ever popular session on case law updates and working party sessions. The conference registration begins at 4pm on Friday 6th July with the opening session commencing at 5:30pm.
The Saturday evening Gala Dinner will be held at the Grand Café, Southampton. The Grand Café a venue steeped in history located within a Grade II listed building, South Western House. Once Southampton's grandest hotel, it was used by first class passengers of the Titanic and its history dates back to 1865. The former Wedgewood Ballroom is now home to a quirky and wonderfully unique Bar, Bistro and Restaurant.
For the 2012 conference we will remain an almost paperless event, as this is one way of reducing our environmental impact. We will endeavour to have all the necessary information available to you well in advance of the conference however we very much rely on the Speakers providing their presentations on time.
