Understanding the Mechanics of Door-to-Door Logistics (an Overview from Procurement to Final Delivery) provides a solid foundation for helping procurement, expediting and logistics personnel see the “big picture”. They learn the roles and responsibilities of the parties involved from end-to-end and how to put the pieces together in an efficient and cost effective manner. Your staff will understand not only “WHAT” happens, but “WHY” and how their roles fit into the logistics chain as an important part of the process.
The logistics and transportation process from the point of procurement to final delivery can be complex, with many parties involved in the transactions. Understanding how all the players interact, their roles, as well as exactly how they intersect with each other is key to effectively managing the process in a cost efficient manner.
This course is created to provide the participant with a comprehensive overview of the logistics process. The program gives consideration to terms of sale, quotations, export compliance, packing, booking and domestic and international transport of the cargo, as well as dealing with the clearance agent and customs at the country of destination, up to delivery to the end user. In addition, we review the elements of the transaction that have an effect on transportation costs, as well as which regulations, laws and governing bodies are applicable to the majority of exports. Discussions will be conducted regarding the various modes of transport, obligations once cargo is booked with the carrier and documentation requirements.
This course provides a practical view of the overall logistics process, touching on effective management of transportation for projects. It is an excellent means of training personnel involved in all aspects of international trade and transportation including sales staff.
