Understanding the Numbers: Budgeting Basics for Nurse Managers

Summary

Join us for a full and exciting day of learning at the Understanding the Numbers: Budgeting Basics for Nurse Managers workshop at the Friday Center in Chapel Hill on Friday, February 2, 2018!

The vast majority of nursing leaders, at all levels, are educated as clinical nurses, and promoted internally to management and executive positions. While clinical expertise allows nurse leaders to bring patient perspective and practical knowledge of daily operations to the boardroom, leading a team of healthcare providers requires specialized knowledge, skills, and training. The workshop, offered through the UNC School of Nursing’s Center for Lifelong Learning, is designed to address the educational gaps in business and management facing nurse leaders.

The Understanding the Numbers: Budgeting Basics for Nurse Manager workshop is a full-day course, emphasizing practical knowledge about managing finances and budget within healthcare organizations. You will learn how to create an operational budget, different types of budgets and when to apply them, how to obtain more resources, and the impact of pay-for-performance policies on the horizon. You will have ample opportunities to apply your knowledge to specific scenarios using case studies to practice creating various types of budgets in small group breakout sessions.

Hope to see you there!

Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided.
