Illinois Connection at the University of Illinois Alumni Association is sponsoring the University of Illinois Day at the Capitol for the fourth consecutive year in partnership with various student organizations from the three campuses.
The University of Illinois ranks as one of the world’s greatest centers of learning and one of the state’s most valuable assets. In order to maintain this level of excellence, the University and its campuses depend upon ongoing support from elected officials, community leaders and the public.
University of Illinois Day at the Capitol provides you and other advocates an opportunity to collectively communicate to legislators the value of the University of Illinois to you, the state and the nation.
We make it easy by:
• Partnering you with other advocates
• Briefing you on issues and talking points
• Setting up appointments with legislators for you
• Providing information packets for you to leave with your legislators
The day begins with a lunch briefing and review of key messages at the Governor's Mansion. Throughout the afternoon, participants will be scheduled to meet with legislators and staff. At the end of the day, advocates will attend a reception and debriefing.
Given the state’s current economic situation, it is more important than ever for legislators around the state of Illinois to hear directly from YOU about your support for the University of Illinois.
