Why is this important?

Geotechnical assets comprise one of the largest resources utilized by transportation and land management agencies in the U.S. The USMP program is geared toward helping federal land and low volume road managers proactively locate and efficiently rate, monitor and prioritize unstable slopes (primarily landslides and rockfalls) to meet transportation performance goals, and wisely spend limited funding to make the transportation network more resilient.
