Our planned format will provide exceptional insight and optimal opportunities to benefit and participate in many open discussions. We will be featuring panels that will provide the spirit of an open discussion via Town Hall sessions. Key leaders from all regions of Virginia will discuss how industry influencers are adapting and leading the way. Continuing in the spirit of open discussions, we'll host our ever popular CIO, CTO and CMIO/CNIO roundtable discussions.
This year's conference will feature highly anticipated Keynote speakers, our ever popular panels and roundtable discussions as well as new content and initiatives.
Our Keynote speaker on Tuesday, October 25th is Vi Shaffer. Ms. Shaffer is a highly respected and well-known industry veteran executive and frequent speaker and author on the fusion of IT and medicine. As Research Vice President for Healthcare at Gartner, she covers the office of the CIO and CMIO, including the application of digital business models and technologies in the transformation of healthcare. Ms. Shaffer advises health systems and ministries of health around the world on issues of IT value, governance, strategic planning and change management. As an analyst, she also evaluates healthcare megasuite vendor architectures and strategies.
On Wednesday, October 26th, our featured Keynote speaker is Liz Kirk, Senior Vice President of Client Services & Cost Improvement Solutions at Strata Decision Healthcare. Liz
Kirk, is also one of the Authors of the book - “Margin + Mission: A Prescription for
Curing Healthcare’s Cost Crisis”. At Strata Decision Healthcare, Ms. Kirk is responsible for leading the development of industry leading applications and consulting services to help health systems, hospitals, and large physician groups significantly reduce the total cost of their operations. By putting powerful and intuitive tools, data and processes in the hands of healthcare providers, it empower hospitals to not only reduce their cost and grow their margins but will also improve clinical outcomes thereby increasing value to the patient and improving their leverage with payers.
New this year, we will be providing Special Interest Group (SIG) Workshops. The cost of these workshops is included in registration, however, our attendees will need to select which workshop they plan to attend upon registration. As always, our educational conference is an exceptional, intimate venue for you to network and make quality connections with healthcare IT and clinical executives from all regions of Virginia.
We will kick things off with 5th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament. The Virginia Chapter of HIMSS is dedicated to furthering the advancement of Health IT education. All proceeds from our Annual VA HIMSS Scholarship Golf Tournament will be directed in support of scholarship opportunities to deserving students throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Join your colleagues and play in the VA HIMSS Scholarship Golf Tournament. On Monday, October 24, there will be a 11:00 am shotgun start for the River Course. A reception and Awards Banquet will follow later that evening. Even if you don't golf, please feel free to attend the reception. This is an excellent opportunity to meet your peers and always sets the pace for an exceptional two days!
