    Nicotine and Marijuana 2.0: Vape, JUUL and So Much More

    New technology, addictive in and of itself, is being used to reach young people with old addictive substances such as nicotine and marijuana. Social media has rapidly recruited new middle and high school users. This fun and interactive program will provide an update on trends, recent research and impact of the latest vaping/juuling epidemic. Creative-evidence based prevention, early intervention and cessation strategies for both nicotine and marijuana will be discussed.


    Key Objectives


    -Briefly review trends and the evolution of vaping, juuling and cell phone technology
    -Describe how the new technology and social media is impacting use and addiction
    -Share recent health and behavioral research
    -Discuss practical prevention, intervention and cessation strategies for both nicotine and marijuana

    GRANTS: Finding Funding Opportunities & Writing Persuasive Grant Proposals
    The Brunswick County Conference Center, 100 Athletic Field Road, Lawrenceville, VA 23868

    This workshop will look at the variety of ways an organization can search for, identify appropriate grant opportunities and how to respond with persuasive grant proposals. We will look at ways to maximize the field of relevant grant opportunities as well as how to ensure the best fit with prospective funders. 

    Additionally, the workshop will teach attendees how to identify the key components of a proposal – whether it is a one page request or a more complicated system.  This workshop will help you to drill down to the specific areas you need to highlight to elevate your proposal’s success.

    Key Learning Objectives:

    • Understand where to locate information about grant funders.

    • Learn the components of and how to develop an effective funders database.

    • Learn the components of a well written proposal.

    • Understand the language of proposals and how to appropriately respond funding opportunities.
