We invite you to attend the 2017 WAML Conference in Austin, TX from November 2-3, 2017 (with special programming on November 4)! This year's program is hosted by UT Libraries at the University of Texas. 2017 marks the 50th anniversary of WAML, and we have several special presentations planned to celebrate the occasion. The conference features two full days of programming related to maps and GIS librarianship, with optional special events, field-trips, and traditional business meetings. Click here to preview our program line-up.

The Western Association of Map Libraries (WAML) is an independent association of map librarians and other people with an interest in maps and map librarianship. Membership in WAML is open to any individual interested in furthering the purpose of the Association, which is "to encourage high standards in every phase of the organization and administration of map libraries."
Become a WAML Member or renew here.

In addition to the 2017 WAML Conference, an optional preconference workshop, “Map Cataloging Basics with Paige Andrew,” is planned for November 1 from 1pm - 5pm in the the Perry-Castañeda Library Map Room at the University of Texas.

This half-day basic maps cataloging workshop will primarily delve into three descriptive areas of the bibliographic record that need the most attention when cataloging sheet maps. Recognized throughout the profession as an authority in map cataloging, Paige Andrew is the Map Cataloging Librarian at Pennsylvania State University. In 2016, the ALA Association for Library Collections and Technical Services named Paige the recipient of the Margaret Mann Citation award in recognition of his outstanding professional achievements and contributions to cataloging. (Click the "Register" button below to sign up.)
