With new technologies putting the internet in everyone’s pocket and an exploding apps market taking the possibilities to dizzying new heights, mobile devices have assumed a central role in the internet equation. But going mobile is the easy part. The trick is to make sure your investment pays off, and for that, new metrics strategies are needed.

Leading our exploration of this emerging world will be Greg Dowling, Vice President of Mobile Strategy & Measurement at Semphonic and former Head of Analysis for Nokia, a company that’s faced down the biggest challenges mobile presents. As the leader of Nokia’s recent initiative to implement mobile tracking across an array of consumer-facing sites and applications, Dowling created the first worldwide mobile web analytics implementation standard. In this session, he’ll discuss that work and the issues that make measurement standardizing difficult. He’ll offer insights on the hurdles involved in navigating this rapidly evolving terrain and share ways to successfully address key mobile measurement issues, including:

Handling multiple channels of data that include mobile and mobile applications

The art of supporting organizations with very different levels of sophistication and investments in measurement

Choosing the right mobile measurement infrastructure

Handling carrier and phone restrictions and limitations

Integrating mobile with fixed web

Measuring monetization opportunities

Getting There by Metro: Smithsonian stop (Blue & Orange lines). Exit Independence Ave. Follow the signs to the Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Parking: There is NO PARKING directly near the Museum. Parking is located 2 blocks away at 1200 D St. SW ($11).

Entering the Museum: YOU WILL NEED TO ACCESS THE MUSEUM ON THE 15TH ST. ENTRANCE. The main entrance to the Museum on 14th St. will be closed when you arrive. There is a walkway on the side of the Museum (closest to Independence Ave.) that will lead you to the 15th St. entrance. It is easy to find and there is a guard by the walkway that can help you.
